Let’s start with a Privacy Policy website as this one, is the easiest to do. Just create a new Page and copy paste from the ready template. You can find a lot of them online. If you are lazy and don’t want to search, you should use FreePrivacy or iUbenda. Very easy tool to use to get what you want.  For now, it is enough. When you start earning first money, you can ask one of the companies who are creating privacy policies individually, depending on a website.

Why You need a Privacy Policy page?

Every single blog or shop who is gathering the data from his readers or customers should have one. You need to specify what you are doing to protect the information you got. Not just for legal reasons (it depends on in which country you live), but you are showing that you have nothing to hide, you care for this gentle subject, and you build trust with visitors.

If you don’t want to use a template, pay someone else to create a PP, you have to create it by yourself. Kudos.

How to write a Privacy Policy Page?

  1. An introduction, explain what your blog/website is doing.
  2. The information you gather from visitors, include details you request. Don’t forget that server remembers IP address and hostname.
  3. How you collect the data. Is it automatic way or via filling a form by customer/reader.
  4. Information storage. People should know how you secure the database. Is it cloud, your server or overseas.
  5. If you are going to share their private information, you have to explain why.
  6. Contact details, if someone has a question regarding your privacy policy.

Not 100% sure (so correct me if I am wrong) – websites with privacy policy are ranked higher in Google search engine, and we want to be as high as possible.

You can always create a PP page and put it in “Footer” (at the bottom) on your website, so it is not that visible.

How to create a good About me page?

You need to know – it is about you and not you at the same time. What does it mean? If you start: “I am Goku, I am 20 years old, and I’m hipster …” most people will think: So what?

Let’s stay here for a minute and think. Random person found one of your posts, and he loved it. What is the next step he is going to do? He’ll check “About me” to know more about the author of a page. That is the crucial moment – you get here a faithful reader, or you lose him once and for all. What can you do to keep him? Give him a reason to stay.

In the first paragraph, you should write what your page/blog is about. Explain how it will help solve readers problems, what in a long-term it gives to him. Is your blog about weight loss? Write a summary that someone new in this topic will find fresh ideas how to fight with fat, healthy tips, short exercise routines and more.

Second – are you a specialist in your niche? Put here some testimonials. If you are a beginner or try something new, just skip this part.

Maybe you have an idea what can be put here? Leave your comment and help other people!

Third – the last one. You can write something about you. Write here what you think can be valuable to a reader. How should he or she see you? How did you get the concept of this website or a blog?

What do you think about it? Do you have the different experience? Let me know in the comment below.

Cheers,

Szymon

  1. Thanks for this, the privacy policy page is something that I’ve been meaning to get around to but so far, haven’t managed.

I didn’t have a clue where to begin and I wasn’t aware that you could simply use a template, that will make the whole process a lot easier.

I assume there aren’t any legal implications of using a template as long as you change it to fit your business name and specific terms?

      Hi Lee,

I don’t think that there should be any issues if you use the ready template and fit it for your side. Preparing for this topic, I checked some well-known blogs and websites; their PP page was very similar to each other.

  2. Wow, the About Me page section was very helpful. I actually just changed my About Me page based on your tips and it definitely sounds a lot better than it was before. I didn’t have to delete any info but more so just rearrange somethings and reword certain phrases.

    Thanks for the great tips!
